Letter balance for Export to India by Edward Greaves, Sheffield, England, c1900. Shelf edge type.  The pivot can be moved along the beam which is graduated 0 to 4 oz and on the other side from 0 to 4 Tolah (India). Nickel alloy, 4,4" long. Also made by John Greaves and Son. Rare examples had an additional setting for weighing a sovereign. Leather covered cap-end case.
